Makoto Shinkai is a Japanese animator and director born in 1973 in Nagano,Japan. He began his career working at a video game company before creating his first Short film “She and Her Cat” in 2000. Unlike many animators Shinkai taught himself animation and made his early works almost entirely on his own. Over the years he Has created several Popular Films including “5 Centimeter Per Second” and “The Garden of Words”. His Biggest success came With “Your Name”, which became one of the highest-Grossing anime films ever.
